History Play

In Westfield, NY this statue was erected in 1999 to commemorate the young girl who wrote Lincoln a letter encouraging him to grow whiskers (a beard). It is at Lincoln-Bedell Park

Letter to Mr. Lincoln was a short play I wrote in college. I have always loved Abraham Lincoln and the history that surrounds him. I now live only a few towns over from where this play takes place.
Abraham Lincoln visited New York twice, The first time was when he visited Grace Gadell as President Elect. He did grow a beard and showed it off to her. The second time was more tragic: the funeral train procession from D.C. to Illinois.
Here is a link to the play. The formatting was originally a Celtx file so it doesn’t translate well to wordpress.
