I am working on a fantasy series. One of the characters, Esperanza (means hope in Spanish), is a name derived from Latin/Romance languages. I was thinking, hope is not Latin based. It is actually Saxon based! I felt intelligent for thinking of that connection. For example, Danish– haber (hoopa), dutch– hoop (hope), Norwegian–Hop (hope),etc.
