Sonnet 3

War Can’t be the Only Way

Music can be heard upon the road.
It can set the march of military.
Come out onto the street from your abode.
See them in their stance so stationary.

There is no joy or real great beauty,
to have them leave from home so far away.
March to the sound of drums and duty,
of fighting enemies and keeping them at bay.

Leave your home and country for the fame.
Who learned and taught the silly fable.
How can a brutal war be tamed?
The thought that war is but sable?

March and step, get into line.
When war is done, you’ll all be swine.
