Song of Hal-lah

Another poem from Estelle

The night is clear and dark,

 the candles burning bright.

Now the story shall begin.

Hal-lah with sword in hand and dagger in boot

climbed the high mountain of Kalereef.

Doomed to slay all fearsome foe,

he fought all creatures from Sheol.

At age of twelve and ten , epic

doomed was he to wander all the earth.

The night was clear and dark,

the candles flickered bright.

Weeping was ringing in the hall.

The King and Queen forgot all joy,

when Hal-lah was bound to fight.

The eldest son of king and queen taken from his rite.

The kingdom groaned and cried,

weeping for their fated prince.

Until he killed all foes of night,

never would he return to Hal-lah.

Countless climbs of night,

he climbed the mountain of Kalereef.

Finally, he put an end to the wicked fights.

His dooméd destiny finally complete.

The night is clear and dark

 the candles burning bright.

The story soon shall end.

At age of twelve and ten

doomed was he to wander all the earth.

The night was clear and dark,

the candles flickered bright.

Now heart of man learnéd in truth,

returned to the halls of his once home.

No one he knew was now alive.

Yet hero’s welcome he received.

The once fair boy of ten and twelve.

had given peace to all his kin.

When troubles now come

the name of Hal-lah gives cheer to all.

The night is clear and dark

 the candles burning bright.

The story now is at its end.
