Here is a sneak peak at my current novel.

“Use the power you have. Never forget the basic forms of wielding. It’s not formed into reality by emotion and logic, it comes from within you. You have the same magic as the Great God, Bůh. Use it,” said Polonius. “Annmia, you go first, conjure up something to attack your brother.”

Polonius asked them both to first feel the magic rising inside of them. Raf stood with his feet a few feet apart. He inhaled and pictured water flowing through his veins, muscles, and bones. His twin sister, Annmia, imagined the elements for her source of power. Raf used more of his emotion to fuel his magic. The exercises when they fought against their teacher resulted in them winning. At times of high stress, they could connect through their thoughts sending words, images, and conversations to each other without anyone knowing. Polonius believed that Raf and Annmia had a heightened awareness of each other because they shared space since conception. When they were training, cutting off each other’s telepathic connection was a lesson of its own. They were learning to guard their minds from the others around them. It was possible for people with magic to read other’s minds, but it was a dangerous practice if it wasn’t part of your natural magic gifting. Everyone with royal blood was born with some form of magic: telepathy, repairing any broken objects, levitating items, control peoples movements, etc. If one parent was royal and the other was not, the ability of that person was limited to one or two gifts. Annmia and Raf had parents with strong ties of royal blood and magic on both sides. Matriarchal and Patriarchal genealogies of royal blood made magic fierce. When both parents had powerful lines, even more powerful magic could develop in offspring. Those with the magic in their lineage, the gifts often showed around the age of nine or ten. Yet the royal twins had both shown uncanny amounts of power, for any age, when they were five years old.  Their governess discovered their intense ability to use magic unexpectedly.  She discovered Raf and Annmia fighting with their toys by shattering and repairing them. The governess say Annmia levitate a toy in the air and throw it at Raf causing it to shatter in mid-air, but before the pieces could reach Raf, he froze the pieces inches from his face and repaired the toy. This made Annmia more furious. The governess watched this for ten minutes before commanding the twins to stop. Three days later they were sitting with Polonius, their new instructor. He would teach them their lessons and magic. The queen found a position for the governess teaching her nieces. When word of this got around the town, many started to remember the prophecy. Polonius told them its history when these words reached the twins by the city folk.

When two from the womb ignite external light, and

When rumors of darkness spring from the woods,

A power will grow too terrible to end,

unless the weak fight along with the strong.

“The history of this prophecy came from the only son of the Great God Bůh.” Polonius began. “A fierce battle for neighboring lands ended after a few months of skirmishes. The king during that time, your great-great-great-grandfather,  asked the Bůh for the help before the conflict started, and after to repair damage.”

It was foretold that when the three kingdoms could no longer live in peace when one of the leaders explored dark magic a great power would come forth to destroy the darkness. Darkness came when Bůh’s first apprentice twisted what he was learning to gain his own power. It gave him unnatural long life that twisted him into a scaly, hideous creature: still human but not human. When his followers came out of the shadows, darker days would come.

Raf and Annmia spared more and more with each other. There were rumors of King Mathias immersing himself in the most heinous of dark magic. Dark days were ahead.
